Wine Cork Pumpkin

jbl_0786If you have a jar of old wine corks lying around, we’ve got the perfect fall décor project for you! Celebrate the start of the season and put those corks to good use with our DIY Wine Cork Pumpkin!

  1. Using the orange craft paint and foam brush, paint the tops of 24 wine corks.
  2. While the cork is drying, freehand or find a pumpkin leaf image online to trace and draw on green felt. Cut two leaves to desired size for the pumpkin and set aside.
  3. To assemble the pumpkin, you will need to start from the bottom to the top.
  4. Align four wine corks on their side and use the hot glue gun to attach the long sides together with the painted edge facing toward you. This is the bottom row.
  5. For the next row, you will need five wine corks. Carefully hot glue three wine corks in the crevice of wine corks on the bottom row. Then, hot glue the two corks on the ends, being careful to keep spacing consistent.
  6. For the middle row, you will need to align six wine corks. Using the same method in Step #5, hot glue four corks in the crevices of the second row and place two wine corks on the ends.
  7. Repeat Step #5 and Step #4. Your pumpkin shape will have 4 wine corks on the top row, 5 wine corks in the 2nd row, 6 wine corks in the middle row, 5 wine corks in the 4th row, and 4 wine corks on the botton.
  8. Using the knife, cut off about 1/3 of the unpainted cork to create the stem using the remaining 2/3.
  9. Glue leaves onto top of pumpkin with hot glue gun.
  10. Glue cork stem on top of pumpkin leaves.
  11. Finally, tie twine around the stem cork and make a bow to complete your pumpkin.
  12. Proudly display your handmade décor all season long! Family and friends will love it!
