Reading Takes You Everywhere at the Orange Public Library

Readers of all ages are encouraged to sign up for the Orange Public Library’s 2018 Summer Reading Club. The theme, “Reading Takes You Everywhere”, focuses on the excitement of exploration and new discoveries to be found in books, libraries, communities, and beyond.

Summer Reading Club begins on Saturday, June 16 and ends July 28, at all three Orange Public Library locations. During the program participants can register as readers and collect their program materials for a chance to win prizes.

Babies, toddlers and children are invited to attend craft programs, special performances and animal encounters in addition to scheduled story times. By reading, or being read to, these age groups will be eligible to earn prizes like books, toys and free meal certificates.

Teens can travel the culinary world via teen cooking classes and read for a chance to win books and meal certificates.

Adults can tap into their artistic side by attending Polynesian dance, Mandala rock painting, and cupcake decorating programs. Adults who complete a Reading Takes You Everywhere Travel Card will be entered into a drawing for various prizes. One grand prize winner will walk away with an iPad.

All of these unique programs will follow the Summer Reading Club Kick-Off program taking place on Saturday, June 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All ages are welcome to drop-in and sign up for their chance to win prizes.

And don’t forget to join in the Summer Film Festival as well! A complete list of the Library’s free programs can be found here: http://www.cityoforange.org/library. For more information, call (714) 288-2400.

Participants will need a City of Orange Public Library Card to join the Library’s Summer Reading Club. California residents may obtain a free Orange Public Library card with valid identification at one of three locations.
